Printed cotton tote bags for events – two-colour contrast on black

Printed cotton tote bags for events carried the “LOOK CLOSER” concept in this project for TEDxAarhus in Aarhus, Denmark. The order used black 140 g/m² cotton bags with long handles. White and red artwork gave the design its two print colours. The eye-chart-inspired layout extended the event identity onto the front of the bag.

Translating a visual concept onto cotton fabric

The artwork combines white elements with red details, including Pantone 485 C. The central design resembles an eye-test chart, but the letters, measurements and small figures form a visual story of their own.

The finished photograph shows fine white lines, larger letterforms and small red details on black fabric. The words “LOOK CLOSER” connect the bag directly with the idea behind the artwork.

Before production, Amanda Hylleberg Andersen reviewed the proof and confirmed: “Looks great, everything is as it should be.” This was approval of the artwork before printing.

Black cotton and long handles

The project used a 38 × 42 cm bag made from 140 g/m² cotton, with long handles for shoulder carrying. Those measurements describe the bag, not its printable area.

The black fabric gives the light artwork contrast, while the red elements mark out parts of the design. The layout combines fine lines, larger letters and small details within the same two-colour print.
