In December 2018, StepEurope ry ordered 130 promotional tote bags in natural cotton. The association works with international youth cooperation, and its bag combined a large illustration with a small organisation logo beneath it.
We printed the design in three colours on one side of each bag. Blue and yellow shapes cover much of the front, with black linework running across them.
The blue and yellow areas give the artwork its main blocks of colour. Black adds outlines and solid shapes, while light streaks are visible across parts of the coloured areas.
The natural fabric remains visible around the illustration. This space separates the print from the seams and the top edge of the bag.
The StepEurope name sits underneath the main graphic. Its smaller size leaves the illustration as the most prominent part of the design, while still identifying the organisation behind the bag.
This layout gives the image and the name separate roles. For an organisation planning its own print, their relative size is worth considering alongside the choice of colours.
The order used a 38 × 42 cm tote made from 140 g/m² cotton. Its long handles allow shoulder carrying, and the plain natural background leaves room for both bold shapes and fine details.
Your own organisation can use the same bag model with its own artwork. The front can accommodate a large illustration with a smaller name or logo below, as in this project.
